Time for a clean-up!

This is the time of year when you are in a garden waiting period and for us it is one of the busiest times.  Winter and early spring offer a rare opportunity to clean up and rearrange your yard and garden to better suit your needs.  One of the big things we try to do each year is clean out unwanted brush that has cropped up over the years.  Everything is dormant now therefore it will be easy to rip out bushes and brush and burn them up.  This not only helps the garden but also makes your whole property look better.  Take a look at the property as a whole to see if you can move things around to make it easier to handle or increase your yield.  One of the things we did was to clean out an area of brush that was fighting with our black berries.  This will allow the berries to flourish so we should have berries to spare in just a few years.  This is also a great time to layout your garden and see if you have the space you need for everything you want to plant.  It could be possible to move some of the items out of the garden to plant them somewhere else.  How fitting it is that we use this time for a cleaning and getting ready for the year.  This is also the time we look at our lives and clean out what is unwanted and prepare to celebrate the birth of our savior.  Taking a deep look to pull up the weeds in our heart that take us away from time with him.  Rip out the bushes that bring sin into our lives.  Organize the planting of God’s word into our heart.  Look at how we have laid it out to see if we can improve our yield.
