Several years ago I decided that our garden was doing good,
but it would be nice if it was more colorful. Morning glories are a beautiful flower and we
have had such good luck with them in the past.
The past being when we did not have a garden. I just love the variety of colors that you
get out of them and they are such a good ground cover, hmm. So I
choose to plant morning glories along the north fence. I can still remember my wife saying “that is
a bad idea, I would not do that”. Silly
though how hard can it be to contain a little vine with flowers that only open
in the morning. And (I told her) if it
doesn’t work out we will not plant them next year. Well that was several colorful and viney
years ago. Now we have morning glories
all along the east side of our property and along the road for half a mile or
so. We still do have them on the side of
the garden and it doesn’t matter how many I pull up, they do not seem to want
to leave. Usually by the end of the year
they have taken over all the fences in an all-out battle for supremacy. We’ll all this to highlight to important
gardening tips. First the word perennial
and vine should spell danger keep away from the garden. Second it is ok to listen to your wife about
some of this stuff. I will try to put up
late summer pictures of your morning glories and if you want seeds let me know,
I might just have some scattered around!
