a beginning

With the demands on our lives today it is tough to balance a simple country life while you live in the northeast.  I think I may have been born a bit later then my calling and sometimes wonder what life was really like say 100 years ago.  The truth is God has put me here at the time and place he choose for a reason.  So in this place we do our best to use our very small property to grow and cook what ever food we can.  We do not always succeed but we learn more each year about how to use the land and how to buy and cook more healthy food.  I am sure my kids would have loved to have more of this while there were still at home.  Right now we have chickens  and a large garden.  Each year we find a way to improve or add to the garden. This spring we will be looking at adding a whole host of new vegetables to our list.  We have done quite well with tomato's cucumbers, and peppers but have had a hard time anything that grows underground.

  1. Hello everyone! I am the wife on the little farm. I have been growing a few herbs for the past 7 years, but last summer we added many more on a permanent basis. Just tried sweet herb (stevia) for the first time this past summer. What a nice addition to my teas. I love trying new recipes with the herbs. My newest favorite is rosemary bread- YUMMY!
